The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) will send information to the online trading platform Ozon (MOEX: OZON) a request regarding the company’s introduction of a fee for owners of order pick-up points (POPs), TASS reports with reference to the department’s press service. Ozon previously announced the introduction of such fees from the beginning of April. After this, the Association of Electronic Commerce Market Participants (AUREC) turned to the FAS with a request to check this decision for compliance with antimonopoly legislation.

“AUREK’s appeal has been received by the FAS Russia and will be considered in the prescribed manner. The service will also send a request to Ozon in order to establish all the circumstances,” the FAS told the agency. The service clarified that if violations of antimonopoly legislation are detected, response measures will be taken.

Ozon TASS reported that the online retailer adheres to the idea of ​​open business and “will provide all the necessary data if necessary.” Ozon added that the site is in contact with regulatory authorities.

The association also reported that entrepreneurs would lose 30–40% of their income due to the levy.

Now Ozon distribution points receive a fixed 5% of the point’s turnover without any deductions. The size of the new service fee will depend on the average rental costs and income of the pickup point, as well as the population density of the city where it is located.

On March 14, Ozon reported that for pick-up points with a turnover of more than 2 million rubles. A new fee will be introduced in April. The marketplace claims that the fee will be calculated individually and will affect only 10% of Ozon partners. After this, AUREK conducted a survey in which 600 pickup point owners took part. The survey results showed that 50% of them will have to pay 20–70 thousand rubles. per month. On March 27, Ozon management held a meeting with partners and representatives of AUREK. Based on its results, the marketplace announced a change in the methodology for calculating the service fee. It is assumed that Ozon will halve the number of partners for whom the fee will be maximum.
