The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia reported complaints from MTS subscribers in connection with the operator’s increase in cellular tariffs. The FAS will check MTS’ decision for violations of antimonopoly legislation.
“The FAS will send a request to the telecom operator in order to establish all the circumstances of the increase,” the FAS press service told Kommersant.
On September 14, MTS subscribers received a notification about an increase in the monthly payment for some tariffs by 59 rubles. The changes are planned to be introduced from September 28.
In 2022, MTS increased the cost of cellular services for more than 44.5 million subscribers, justifying the decision by increasing salaries. FAS recognized this decision as unfounded and imposed a fine on the operator. MTS tried to appeal this decision, but the Moscow Arbitration Court in July of this year admitted to the extent legal.
