The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia recognized the Yandex.Taxi service as dominant in the country. The press service of the department told the agency about this TASS.
“Based on the results of a market analysis, FAS Russia has established that Yandex. Taxi occupies a dominant position in the territory of the Russian Federation and the vast majority of regions of the country,” the service reported.
The FAS added that abuse of a dominant position may lead to an inspection and the adoption of antimonopoly response measures. However, the department added that currently possible response measures by the FAS are limited.
In September, representatives of Yandex. Taxi” explained rising travel prices due to a shortage of drivers, a new taxi law and rising prices for cars. The FAS recognized the dominant position of the service, but was unable to conduct a detailed inspection due to the moratorium, which is valid until the end of 2024.
