FAS received X5 Group’s application for the purchase of two Siberian chains

X5 Group (which manages Pyaterochka, Karusel, Chizhik and Perekrestok) has filed a petition to acquire 70% of retail chains owned by Krasny Yar and Slata, leading retailers in Eastern Siberia, reported The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) in its Telegram channel. The regulator will assess the impact of the deal on the Russian retail market.
In early August, X5 Group announced that it had reached agreements with two retail chains. To complete the transaction, you must obtain the consent of the FAS. The parties did not disclose the details of the deal. It was clarified that the stores after the deal will continue to work under their names.
Krasny Yar owns 226 stores of two brands – Krasny Yar and Baton in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Tuva and Khakassia, Slata owns 362 Slata and KhlebSol stores in the Irkutsk Region, Buryatia and the Trans-Baikal Territory. Two groups of companies lease four distribution centers for 56,200 sq. m. Through the purchase of X5 Group will be able to significantly expand its presence in Eastern Siberia. Now the company has 1,095 Pyaterochka stores and two distribution centers in the Siberian Federal District.
