The Stavropol Department of the Federal Antimonopoly Service opened a case against Poultry Complex Alliance LLC, Grachevskaya Poultry Farm LLC and Kumskaya Poultry Farm LLC due to a one-time increase in prices for chicken eggs. The Lugansk OFAS filed a case against the only egg producer in the Lugansk People’s Republic, AVIS LLC, which allowed wholesale prices for eggs to increase to 30% from October to December 2023, reported press service FAS.

The press release clarifies that Stavropol companies allowed an increase in wholesale prices for chicken eggs from September to October 2023 in the range from 59% to 108%. FAS suspects enterprises of concluding cartel agreements. A case has been opened against a company from the LPR on grounds of abuse of a dominant position, the FAS reported.

If the companies are found guilty, they face turnover fines. The press service recalled that the FAS is now considering antimonopoly cases against 10 chicken egg producers in the LPR, Donetsk People’s Republic, Crimea, Kirov, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kemerovo, Ivanovo, Yaroslavl regions and Stavropol Territory.

Last December, chicken eggs became one of the most expensive products in Russia – their price rose by 10–20% in 46 regions of the country. As Rosstat notes, at the end of December last year, eggs rose in price by 61.35% year on year.
