The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia opened a case against Alfa Bank due to false information in advertising about the abolition of acquiring fees. They clarified that the reason for initiating the case was numerous complaints about commercials aired on federal channels.
“The advertisement indicated in large print information about the abolition of acquiring fees. However, significant information about the limitations of such a tariff was communicated in explanatory footnotes in a difficult to understand manner for a short time. Thus, consumers received incomplete information about all the conditions of the financial service that determine its cost,”— reported in the press service of the department. The FAS noted that a trial will take place in the near future, as a result of which Alfa Bank may be brought to administrative liability.
In December 2023, the antimonopoly service will also excited case against Alfa Bank on grounds of violation of advertising legislation. According to the FAS, the bank advertised the credit card, indicating important information in small print.
