FAS allowed BKH “Kolomensky” to buy “Volzhsky baker”

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia has granted the request of the bakery and confectionery holding Kolomensky to acquire the Volzhsky Pekar company, the regulator said in a statement. According to the agency, the deal will not lead to a restriction of competition in the bread and confectionery market.
The intention of the Moscow BKH “Kolomensky” to buy a controlling stake in the largest bakery enterprise in the Tver region “Volzhsky Pekar” became known in early August. “Volzhsky Pekar”, according to its own data, occupies 48% of the market of bakery products in the Tver region. The total production volume in 2021 amounted to 39,700 tons, and the company’s revenue was 2.66 billion rubles. At the same time, the net loss reached 10.7 million rubles. Experts estimated the deal at 500-700 million rubles.
BKH “Kolomensky” calls itself the leader of the Russian market of bakery products, it produces products under the brands “Kolomenskoye”, “Shokoladnitsa” and so on. The company’s financial performance is not disclosed. BKH belongs to the owner of the Sminex developer Alexei Tulupov. Earlier, his holding bought the assets of Fazer, which left Russia, which owned three plants in St. Petersburg and one in Moscow in the country. This transaction was estimated at 4 billion rubles. Experts do not exclude that BKH “Kolomensky” may conduct other transactions to buy out core assets, for example, among regional players.
