The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia opened a case against the Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port (NMPT) due to a violation of antimonopoly legislation. According to the FAS, in 2023, tariffs for transshipment of ferrous metals for individual cargoes increased to 50%, with intra-port movement – up to 37%.

“FAS Russia has opened an antimonopoly case against the Novorossiysk seaport. The service identified signs of violation of antimonopoly legislation in terms of setting tariffs for services for transshipment of ferrous metals,”— reported FAS. If violations are proven, the port management will be subject to an administrative fine.

In the spring of 2017, after an appeal from Rosneft, Russian Railways and Technotrans, the FAS recognized that the Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port is a natural monopoly that inflates tariffs for cargo transshipment services. By decision of the court, the port transferred 9.74 billion rubles to the budget, but the Supreme Court then declared this decision illegal.
