Soviet and Moldavian writer Ion Druta died in Moscow three weeks after his 95th birthday. The portal Jurnal reports this.
The cause of the writer’s death is not known.
Drutse was a writer, poet, screenwriter and playwright. The films “Early Cherry” and “The Last Month of Autumn” were made based on his works.
For his works “The Last Month of Autumn” and Steppe Ballads, the writer was awarded the State Prize of the Moldavian SSR. He was also awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of Friendship of Peoples and the Red Banner of Labor.
He has lived in Moscow since 1968.
