“F + tech-Marvel” will start producing printers based on the American Lexmark

Electronics supplier F+ tech-Marvel is developing its own printer, which is planned to be brought to market under the F+ tech brand before the end of the year. About it Vedomosti said the managing partner of the group of companies Alexei Melnikov. He assured that in terms of technical characteristics it will be an analogue of the Lexmark MX-431. F+ tech-Marvel bought Lexmark’s Russian business in 2022.

Mr. Melnikov said that this printing device is designed for the corporate market and is suitable for office use. “We are working on creating our own printing device. I think that in 2023 we should present it in the 3rd-4th quarter. We will focus on the mass affordable segment and the average price,” he said, without naming the exact price.

Alexey Melnikov said that the development of the printing device is carried out by a team consisting mainly of former Lexmark engineers. The most popular models of A4 and A3 printers for black-and-white printing are planned to be the first to be released, after which the line will be expanded with color models and photo printers. The devices will be compatible with Russian operating systems – Rosa, Basalt, Astra Linux.

As Mr. Melnikov added, F+ tech-Marvel intends to focus on cooperation with Chinese factories for the time being. It is assumed that in the third quarter printers will be ready, which will be assembled from foreign components. The possibility of assembling a printer from Russian components is being worked out. “We plan to localize as much as possible, but it depends on the development of Russian microelectronics,” he explained.

The parent company of Marvel Distribution bought Russian division of the American printer manufacturer Lexmark in August 2022. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed, the employees of the Russian office and contracts in the Russian Federation were transferred to the new owner, and the equipment continued to be produced at the same factories, but under a new brand. In November the company announced about the start of production of data storage systems (DSS) and network equipment in the Moscow region, and for the development of its own storage systems, it bought share in the software developer of SK-SHD.
