Roslesinforge reported that importing countries mainly purchase boards and timber from pine, spruce and larch. The supply of hardwood products is also increasing. In 2022, according to the agency, sawn wood was supplied to 89 countries, and in 2021 to 94.
Taiwan, Macau, Indonesia, Belize, Cuba, New Zealand, Pakistan, Nepal, Keeling (Cocos Islands) and Argentina stopped importing Russian timber. At the same time, new buyers appeared: Mexico, Palestine, Libya, Luxembourg and the Faroe Islands.
Against the background of the introduction of Western sanctions in 2022, the export of Russian lumber was redirected to the countries of the Middle East and North Africa. According to “Roslesinforga”, the volume of total exports in this direction increased by 17.84%, to 1.2 million cubic meters. m compared to 2021. The UAE increased imports of Russian sawn timber by 83%, Iran – by 75%, Jordan – by 45%.
