Export prices for steel square billets hit a three-year low

Prices for the export of steel square billets in mid-July 2023 fell to a minimum since November 2020 – $ 460 / t on a FOB basis (“loading on ship”) Black Sea. This follows from the data of the Metals & Mining Intelligence (MMI) industry agency, which Vedomosti has reviewed. Quotes for the semi-finished product began to decline at the end of February 2023, when they reached $615/t. Thus, the fall over the past four months was 25%.
According to two international traders, the main Russian mills offer square blanks to the market at $470-475/t FOB, while producers from the new regions of Russia (DNR and LNR) at $463-467/t FOB.
