The volume of exports of pine nuts supplied by Siberian enterprises amounted to 9.5 thousand tons in 2022. This is 2.3 times more than in 2021. China remained the largest importer of pine nuts from Siberia last year (81% of the physical volume of all exported nuts), press office Siberian Customs Administration.

The ministry also announced an increase in the value of exports of pine nuts in 2022 by 46%. The leading suppliers of the product were enterprises of the Tomsk region (62% of the physical volume of all exported pine nuts), as well as the Altai Republic (9.5%), the Krasnoyarsk and Altai regions (9% each) and the Novosibirsk region (6%).

In October, the Legislative Assembly of Primorsky Krai suggested government to impose a ban on the export of unprocessed pine nuts in order to stimulate the development of pine nut processing industries in Russia. In September, the Ministry of Natural Resources reported on plans to include pine nuts in the list of strategically important goods and resources, for the illegal export of which criminal liability is provided with imprisonment for up to 12 years. It is assumed that such liability should arise when exporting pine nuts in the amount of more than 1 million rubles.
