The timing of payments from Russia to Kazakhstan has increased to two to three weeks, several experts said “Izvestia”. The situation has worsened since the end of February due to fears of secondary sanctions among Kazakh banks.

According to him, problems with dollar transactions arose a long time ago, but now difficulties have arisen with transactions in national currencies.

Chairman of the Board of the Association of Participants in the Payment Services Market “National Payment Council” Alexander Linnikov believes that one of the reasons was in-depth checks of client transactions to identify possible sanctions risks. Oleg Abelev, head of the analytical department of Ricom-Trust Investment Company, noted that the problem especially affected banks that have clients from countries unfriendly to Russia in their cash management services.
