The global demand for thermal coal in the world will grow until 2030 and will reach 7.01 billion tons per year. This is stated in a study by the consulting agency Yakov and Partners (formerly McKinsey in Russia).
The review (available from Vedomosti) notes that in the baseline scenario (sustained GDP growth rates in developing countries, stagnation or no growth in developed countries and a moderate level of energy prices), by this time the demand for coal will grow by 3% compared to 2021 year, or almost 200 million tons per year. But by 2050, the trend will reverse: consumption will decrease by 38% compared to 2021 to 4.24 billion tons.
