The Center for Forensic Expertise under the Ministry of Justice of Russia re-evaluated the value of the shares of AS Rus Media JSC (the publishing company of Forbes in Russia) at 1 ruble. The correspondent reports this “Vedomosti” from the meeting room of the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal, where a complaint against the court’s decision to invalidate the deal to sell the Russian version of Forbes in 2018 is being considered.
A representative of the current owner of Forbes, Magomed Musayev, presented an expert opinion at the meeting, which indicated that, according to the cost approach, the value of the company’s net assets was “minus 261 million rubles,” and taking into account the income approach, “minus 106 million rubles.”
This is already the second examination of the shares of AS Rus Media JSC. In March 2023, ANO Soyuzexpertiza under the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry submitted to the court a similar assessment of the value of the company’s shares at the time of the transaction. Experts then estimated the net assets of AS Rus Media JSC at “minus 245 million rubles.”
In 2018, the Faf Media company sold 95 ordinary and 5 preferred shares of AS Rus Media JSC to Magomed Musaev. In August 2022 the court canceled this deal. However, in March 2023, after receiving the results of the examination of ANO Soyuzexpertiza, the appeal court admitted the sale of Russian Forbes is legal. In June last year, the decision of the appeal court was again sent for a new consideration.
