Exchange prices for gas in Europe during the auction fell by 5%, to $545.2 per 1 thousand cubic meters, follows from the data of the ICE exchange. The cost of gas dropped below $550 per 1,000 cubic meters. for the first time since August 26, 2021.
March gas futures on the TTF index (the largest gas hub in Europe) were sold at $566.3 per 1,000 cubic meters at the opening of trading, losing 1.6% from the previous close. By 10:25 Moscow time, gas prices dropped to $545.2 per 1,000 cubic meters.
Gas prices in Europe began to decline in early 2023. By mid-January, exchange prices for gas in Europe fell by 25%. Also in February, liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices hit an 18-month low. This happened after information about the return to the market of the largest liquefied gas plant in the US, Freeport LNG.
