The former head of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) Alexey Rakhmanov will soon become an adviser to Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov, reports RBC citing two sources familiar with the personnel decisions.

The publication’s interlocutors clarify that Mr. Rakhmanov’s functionality and area of responsibility at Rostec have not yet been determined.

59-year-old Alexey Rakhmanov was the general director of USC from 2014 to August 2023. He left the company after it came under the control of VTB. Mr. Rakhmanov has the rank of Actual State Councilor of the Russian Federation, first class. From 2002 to 2008, he served as Director for Strategy and Business Development at Severstal-Auto OJSC.

In July 2008, Mr. Rakhmanov headed the Department of Automotive Industry and Agricultural Engineering of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, and in March 2012 he became deputy head of the ministry.

In August 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized Mr. Rakhmanov for unprofitable contracts. Transfer of USC under the management of VTB, according to Kommersant, caused disruption of the corporation’s recovery program. Mr. Rakhmanov’s place took ex-deputy chairman of VTB Andrey Puchkov.
