The former head of Yekaterinburg Evgeny Roizman (included in the register of foreign agents) can transfer all his museums to the city. In a conversation with the portal 66.ru he stated that he was thinking about what to do with the Misha Brusilovsky Museum, the Museum of Artists of Yekaterinburg and the Museum of Nevyansk Icon.
The ex-mayor told how the director of the Hermitage, Mikhail Piotrovsky, said after their visit that if Mr. Roizman handed over the Museum of the Nevyansk Icon to the city, “it would be very good.” To this he replied: “Yes, I see. Still, I won’t take this with me.”
Evgeny Roizman also remembered Pavel Tretyakov, who in 1892 donated the Tretyakov Gallery he created to Moscow. He emphasized that it was important for him that the philanthropist handed over the museum “not to the emperor and Russia as a whole, but to his city.” “I have something to focus on, something to think about, and at some point my task is for Yekaterinburg to get all this,” the former mayor emphasized.
Evgeny Roizman headed Yekaterinburg in 2013–2018. In May 2023 he sentenced in a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public actions aimed at discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation). He was fined 260 thousand rubles. After the court decision, Evgeny Roizman said that he planned to write a dissertation on the history of the Nevyansk icon, return to personal receptions of citizens and run a rehabilitation center for children diagnosed with SMA.
