Eva Polna alarmed the hearts of fans at the anniversary show

In the summer, at a big concert of the group “Hands Up!” At Luzhniki, Eva Polna performed as a special guest and, saying goodbye to the public, invited everyone to her autumn solo concert. And, despite the more than modest advertising, the singer gathered about seven thousand of her fans, who brought a lot of flowers to the hall and a desire to have a good time. “ZD” reports from the scene.

The concert was designated as an “anniversary”, but with her performance Eva Polna celebrated not only the 25th anniversary of her career, but also the release of the new album “Open Space”, which was released on the eve of the concert. Thus, it was also a presentation of new products.

The new ones are worth it. Eva is one of those very rare pop stars who follow one single and, perhaps, the most reliable rule: to express exclusively themselves in songs, and not the spirit of the time. The artist’s means of expression are a little old-fashioned. She still writes lyrics that have a plot and a lot of emotion, does not use jargon and comes up with melodies for songs. Probably, many would also like to do this, but they lack imagination and sometimes vocabulary. So far, Polna has everything in order with both.

The rhythm of the album floats from bossa nova to cheerful dances, the mood of almost all the songs is very melancholic, but this is the melancholy of a woman who is one hundred percent confident in herself. “I don’t know how to love without being sick,” Eva says in one of the songs, and there is no falsehood in this, as well as in her other lines. Taking into account the artist’s musical experience, of course, it is difficult to count on supernatural sincerity, but even if she writes songs, giving herself certain technical assignments, none of the new tracks betrays the author’s cold nose. Songs are unlikely to heal broken hearts, but if someone wants to be sad, then Eva again has a suitable soundtrack.

New compositions and quasi-anniversary passions are not the best tandem in one concert. But here, too, Eva didn’t seem to think much about the rules, and, as it turned out, she did the right thing.

What it looked like

A little unexpected due to the complete disregard for multimedia. Instead of screens, there are three frame arches with spotlights, and the rest is a black office that few can afford. Sacrificing scenery and video art in favor of the human factor, you need to be confident in its strength and self-sufficiency. And also, of course, in public.

With the latter everything worked out well. For more than two decades on stage, both in the duet “Guests from the Future” and solo, Eva has acquired a whole fan army, which looks as colorful as possible. Who isn’t there? From average girls of average age to ladies whose retro looks perfectly suit lines like “neither wine nor coat warms.” From the uncles who came to accompany their wives, to the characters in transparent T-shirts. And they are all ready to leave a comfortable chair for the sake of dancing, as if in mockery of their knee joints.

Already at the first “I Know Only the Best in You,” the people began to stir, and the process could not be stopped. People with bouquets flocked to the stage faster than is usually expected, and even though the first part was devoted mostly to new songs, no one wanted to get bored.

“The young lady came from Kamchatka,” Eva noted, accepting another bouquet. “I suggest we all take out loans and go to Kamchatka.” Ms. Polna’s humor sometimes resembles a cool shower, but the audience is apparently accustomed to this, so the small stand-up segments went off with a bang. “Just like in the joke. I wanted to have sex on the windowsill, but where should I put the seedlings?” — the pop diva chuckled, looking at the constantly presented bouquets. The audience clearly liked the peppery jokes.

The anniversary nature of the event did not turn the concert into the expected series of joint performances. Only Zvonky appeared on stage for the track Hasta La Vista, recorded together with the hero of the day. Having also stayed for his solo song, the guest gave the hostess the opportunity to change her outfit and continue with no less enthusiasm. Soon an intermission was announced, which in a pop music event usually looks something far-fetched, but in this case the audience happily sipped the sparkling wine before a set of the main hits.

There were some surprises here. Along with “No Love”, “Games”, “Metko” and other songs that you simply cannot live without, rarities like “Oh How Difficult” and “Windows” were played, which, most likely, really pleased those who know Eva’s repertoire not just at the top. However, regardless of their awareness, “Run From Me” everyone sang in chorus.

pros

The black office as a stage solution ultimately turned out to be an excellent setting for both the artist and her repertoire. It was as if the space had been cleared of high-tech tinsel and body movements of the dance group, leaving the emphasis on charisma, voice and the songs themselves. And the audience hardly felt left out.

Minuses

Some delicacies would be appropriate for the anniversary concert. The founder of the “Guests from the Future” duet, Yuri Usachev, handed Eva flowers, but he could have gone on stage for a special occasion. Let’s hope the idea of a reunion comes up someday, because the tracks recorded by the duo still sound indecently cheerful. Maybe this is retro due to its age, but it is still self-sufficient and not at all outdated music. Moreover, it can be interpreted in different ways. During the show, everything was performed in recognizable arrangements, although these songs may surprise you in unrecognizable ones. And where, if not at the anniversary, to surprise with such surprises.

Party phrase

“I love it when men in ties give flowers,” Eva noted flirtatiously, looking at the new bouquet. “I even wanted to get married.”

“No need!” – two ladies shouted from the stalls, whose appearance hinted at great knowledge in this matter.
