Ethiopia is ready to increase the supply of coffee to Russia

Ethiopian Ambassador to Russia Alemayehu Tegenu said that the African country, amid expectations of rising prices, is ready to increase coffee exports to Russia. According to him, in Ethiopia there is a more favorable situation with the coffee harvest than in Asia and Latin America, which is why the republic can increase supplies.
“If there is a request from Russia, we will be able to increase the volumes, no problem… This has happened before, when somewhere the coffee harvest was less than expected, prices were rising. Everything is fine with us, coffee production continues. Ethiopian producers are ready to supply coffee to any country,” Mr. Tegenu told RIA Novosti.
In August, The Wall Street Journal reportedthat world coffee prices will rise this year due to a poor harvest of Arabica beans in Brazil, the world’s largest coffee supplier. In February, coffee futures rose to a ten-year high of $2.58 a pound.
