Estonia, following Latvia and Lithuania, stopped broadcasting “Rain”

In Estonia, telecom operators stopped broadcasting the Dozhd TV channel (recognized as a foreign agent). Earlier, the Latvian authorities canceled the TV channel’s license, according to which the channel broadcast content in the European Union and the United States. Thus, the broadcasting of the TV channel has already been stopped in three countries – Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
As the Postimees newspaper clarifies, the day before, on December 7, TV cameraman Elisa informed its subscribers about the suspension of the broadcasting of Dozhd. “In accordance with the notification of the Department of Consumer Protection and Technical Supervision, telecom operators will suspend the broadcast of the Dozhd TV channel tomorrow,” Taavi Teder, media relations manager for Elisa, quotes the publication as saying.
Mike-Richard Koch, marketing and public relations specialist for Home 3, confirmed that from December 8, the Dozhd TV channel will no longer be broadcast in the Baltic countries, including on Go3 and Home3 TV services.
On December 6, the National Electronic Media Council of Latvia annulled the broadcasting license of Dozhd. This decision was made due to the fact that on December 1, its host Alexei Korostelev read out the editors’ request to send messages about violations during mobilization in Russia by mail. He also expressed hope that the channel would help solve them. This was regarded as support for the Russian army.
Mr. Korostelev was fired, after him several more employees left the editorial office. Latvian State Security Service urged blacklist the former presenter.
