Yesterday, November 15, the auditing and consulting company EY (formerly called Ernst & Young) reported, that Janet Trankale will be its new CEO. In July 2024, Ms. Trancale will replace Carmina Di Sibio in this post. She will become the first woman to head the company in the history of not only EY, but also the Big Four auditing and consulting companies as a whole. Deloitte’s board of directors is also headed by a woman, but in this case the CEO is a man.
Mr Di Sibio has led EY since 2019. The company statement did not disclose the reasons for his resignation. He will leave a year earlier than planned – before that, the standard four-year contract with him was extended by two years, this period expired in 2025. EY announced a change in CEO several months after it became known that it had abandoned a plan to split into two companies – an audit and a consulting company. About such a plan reported last year following several scandals involving Big Four companies. However, many of EY’s partners opposed the split, so the company abandoned it. According to American media, the change of head may indicate that EY wants to distance itself from this failed plan.
Ms Trankale has been with EY since 1991. Before being elected CEO, she was a regional managing partner in the United States working with the American Financial Services Association. The company’s executive committee elected her as CEO for a four-year term after considering six candidates from among EY partners.
