Emir Kusturica will shoot three films based on the works of Gogol

Iconic Serbian film director Emir Kusturica has announced plans to make three films based on the works of Nikolai Gogol. He spoke about this in an interview with Izvestia.
“I am thinking about three films based on Gogol. His works are the most powerful examples of realistic literature,” said Kusturica. He believes that it is necessary to make exactly three films so that they leave an impression much stronger than one picture is capable of.
Kusturica drew attention to the works: “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich”, “Carriage”, “Sorochinsky Fair”. The director pointed out that these are fantastic sketches about the conscience and characters of people who lived in Little Russia.
Kusturica added that he still doubts his film adaptation of Dead Souls. He added that soon he will choose a work, and the shooting will begin.
“And it will be a great film, because it’s impossible to make a bad film on Gogol,” the celebrity believes.
