In 2024, the number of DDoS attacks on Russian businesses will increase by at least 400% due to the unstable political situation, according to the forecast of the Edge Center cybersecurity department (available to Kommersant). Against this background, the provider of cloud and edge solutions for business expects an increase in demand for Russian companies and IT solutions in the field of cybersecurity.
According to the Edge Center, in 2023 the number of cyber attacks has increased to 300% compared to 2022. More than 50 large companies from various industries were attacked: transport, government and financial sectors.
From January to November, notes EdgeCenter, more than 130 thousand DDoS attacks were recorded on Russian companies with an average duration of 15 minutes. The power of over 500 of them was more than 100 Gbit/s. The record cyber attack during this period lasted eight days.
Over the nine months of 2023, the number of cyber attacks on companies through compromised employee data has grown by 10% compared to the same period last year. Among the hacks are attacks on the NSPK website, the Transtelecom provider and telecom operators in Crimea. In this regard, the Ministry of Digital Development proposed to legalize the work of “white hat hackers” (they search for information security vulnerabilities), but law enforcement agencies opposed it.
