Echo website blocked in Russia

Roskomnadzor blocked the Echo website, a project of journalists from the closed radio station Ekho Moskvy. This happened on the fourth day after its launch. The reason for the blocking was the requirement of the Prosecutor General’s Office, according to the register of the regulator.
Alexey Venediktov (recognized as a foreign agent), who served as editor-in-chief of Ekho Moskvy for 24 years, September 29 announced restart of the radio station in the website format by its former employees. “This will be a digest of what Echo journalists do scattered around the world,” Mr. Venediktov described the concept of the Kommersant project.
Maxim Kournikov, former editor-in-chief of Ekho Moskvy, became the head of the Echo media network. On the resources of the new project, headings and leading closed radio stations have been preserved.
“Echo of Moscow” was disabled off air March 1, 2022. Prior to this, the Prosecutor General’s Office demanded to block the radio station’s website, since it disseminates “deliberately false information” about the hostilities in Ukraine. Now on the frequency of “Echo of Moscow” broadcasts radio station Sputnik, whose editor-in-chief is Margarita Simonyan.
More details – in the material “Kommersant” “Echo will echo”.
