Due to sanctions, Moldova transferred gas networks to the management of the Romanian Transgaz

The gas networks of Moldova, with the exception of Transnistria, came under the control of the Westmoldtransgaz company (a subsidiary of the Romanian Transgaz). Previously, they were managed by Moldovatransgaz, a subsidiary of Moldovagaz, 50% of whose shares belong to the Russian Gazprom.
“On September 19, Westmoldtransgaz receives not only the opportunity to manage transport networks throughout the Republic of Moldova, but also the status of an operator with subsequent certification at the European level in accordance with the requirements of the third energy package,”— it says in a message on the website of the National Energy Regulatory Agency of Moldova.
The agreement was signed for five years and does not provide for the transfer of the right to lease networks managed by Tiraspoltransgaz (unrecognized Transnistria), notes TASS.
The authorities of Moldova insisted on changing the tenant of the networks. Moldovatransgaz was obliged to separate from Moldovagaz and undergo the certification required in accordance with the third EU energy package. In June, the company announced that it did not have time to fulfill the requirement by September 19.
