DreamWorks creative partner Chris Meledandri has revealed that the film studio is in production on Shrek 5. In particular, the studio is negotiating the participation of actors from past parts of the film – Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy – in the new part.
“We expect the actors to return. Negotiations are starting now and all the indications that we have received are that the actors are very enthusiastic about returning,” Chris Meledandri said in an interview. Variety.
Chris Meledandri is the producer of Despicable Me and Minions. It was originally planned that the fifth part of “Shrek” with his participation will appear in theaters in 2019, but work on the cartoon was stopped.
The resumption of work on the new part of “Shrek” is due to the success of the cartoon “Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish”, which grossed almost $ 500 million at the box office. There is no official release date for the cartoon yet.
After the release of Shrek 4: Forever After in 2010, DreamWorks’ net income doubled in one quarter, with revenue rising to $188.9 million.
