“Dog in the Manger” was played in the Garden of Eden near Moscow

An unusual premiere took place at the Krivyakino Estate

The passionate dialogue between Diana and Teodoro unfolds in an openwork, entwined with flowers, pavilion, while in the distance, by the pond, Marcela, devoted to her beloved, rushes about. At the same time, curious servants are hiding behind the columns of the snow-white semi-rotunda, and the offended Marquis Ricardo is trampling under the lush crowns of trees … The premiere of the open-air version of the Moscow Provincial Theater’s play “A Dog in the Manger” directed by Alexander Koruchekov took place among the living “set scenery”. The action of the imperishable comedy by Lope de Vega sometimes covered several locations of the Krivyakino estate at once. This action opened the V Summer Festival “Stanislavsky’s Factory”.

– Each time we choose a new interesting and significant cultural place for the festival. Here, in the Krivyakino Estate, there is an absolutely fantastic atmosphere! I love outdoor performances because they create a sense of truth. There is nothing more beautiful than the truth on stage, – said the creator and artistic director of the festival Sergey Bezrukov at the opening of the festival.

The place chosen this time perfectly meets the principles of authenticity of the Stanislavsky system, which are followed by the participants of the event. This year, among them are theater groups from Vladimir, Samara, Barnaul, Novocherkassk, Zelenograd, Perm, Lesosibirsk and Novokuznetsk. The repertoire includes both the luminaries of world drama and contemporary authors: Molière, Ostrovsky, Gogol, Chekhov, Martin McDonagh, John Sing, Oleg Bogaev, Narine Abgaryan.

An important emphasis of the festival is on education, it is not for nothing that the word “factory” is included in its name. This is a kind of forge of theatrical personnel who learn the basics of mastery from famous teachers, theorists and practitioners of the theater. This time, more than 30 students of acting departments from various universities of the country will be “forged” at the Stanislavsky Factory.

“Dog in the manger” in the open air – this is the beginning. The main event is a competition, the winners of which will receive commemorative figurines “I Believe” (in the form of miniature Stanislavsky sculptures from “biscuit” porcelain, created by the masters of the Dulevo Porcelain Factory). He started with Chekhov’s tragicomedy “Rothschild’s Violin” of the Vladimir Academic Drama Theater about a beggar undertaker with a scandalous character and a peculiar philosophy. This performance was already played on the stage of the Provincial Theater. However, the festival will not be limited to this venue – screenings are also on the stage of the Mytishchi Drama and Comedy Theater “FEST” and the Moscow Regional Drama and Comedy Theater (Noginsk). In total, 11 productions participate in the competition.
