Dmitry Kozhanov became the new director of the Polytechnic Museum

The Moscow Polytechnical Museum was headed by PhD in Economics Dmitry Kozhanov. About appointment informed press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. Prior to that, Mr. Kozhanov served as Assistant to the President of the National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute”.

The new leader was introduced by Deputy Minister of Culture Alla Manilova. She noted that the department “has high hopes” for the new leader. It is reported that before working at the Kurchatov Institute, Mr. Kozhanov held “leading positions” in research organizations and manufacturing enterprises.

Ms. Manilova also added that while the reconstruction of the building of the Polytechnic Museum continues (work has been carried out there since 2013), the institution is developing a branch network and organizing exhibitions and temporary expositions in different regions of Russia. According to the Ministry of Culture, over 200,000 people visited the museum’s events last year.

Yulia Shakhnovskaya was the head of the Polytechnic Museum from 2009 to 2020. In 2020, she was replaced by the ex-director of the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center Elena Pronicheva. February 9 Mrs. Pronicheva appointed director of the Tretyakov Gallery instead of Zelfira Tregulova.

In addition to the Tretyakov Gallery in 2023, management changed in the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow, as well as in the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg.
