American Disney Corporation redeemed the unfinished cruise ship Global Dream, which is currently one of the largest in the world. The ship was purchased from MV Werften, part of Hong Kong’s Genting Dream Cruises, both of which went bankrupt in January. Disney did not disclose the amount of the deal, saying only that it “acquired the ship at a bargain price”, it will be the sixth cruise ship from Disney.
At the moment the liner built by about 75%. When purchasing the ship, Disney agreed to complete the construction on their own at a shipyard in Germany. Initially, the liner was designed for 9.5 thousand passengers, but the company reduced the number to 6 thousand.
It is known that Disney is going to rename the liner, and biomethanol will be used as fuel. The ship’s hull will be painted in Disney’s signature Mickey Mouse-inspired colors. The finished ship will be presented by the cruise division of Disney Cruise Line in 2025.
