Director of the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg Vladimir Gusev resigned as head, informed today, February 10, “Fontanka” with reference to the press service of the institution. In the museum, he will remain in the honorary position of president. Potential nominees for the post at the institution were not announced.
“Vladimir Gusev took over as president of the Russian Museum. The planned transition of Vladimir Alexandrovich to this honorary position took place in accordance with his personal appeal to the Ministry of Culture of Russia and is associated with the completion of the labor contract, ”the museum quoted the source as saying.
Anna Tsvetkova, Deputy General Director for Development, Enlightenment and Educational Activities, will temporarily act as head of the Russian Museum.
Art historian, Associate Professor Vladimir Gusev has been in charge of the Russian Museum since 1988. Under his leadership, projects such as the restoration of the Summer Garden, the Mikhailovsky Castle, the Mikhailovsky Palace, as well as the opening of the Cultural and Exhibition Center of the Russian Museum in Spain and the digitization of valuable manuscripts and archival documents, together with the Yeltsin Library, were implemented.
