Director, chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia Nikita Mikhalkov was hospitalized in one of the capital’s hospitals with suspected coronavirus, media reported. The wife of Mr. Mikhalkov confirmed the information about his condition to the publication Readovka. She noted that the director’s diagnosis is not yet known.
Earlier in a number of media there was information about the serious condition of the director after covid pneumonia. “The exact diagnosis is not yet known,” Tatyana Evgenievna commented.
Baza Telegram channel informed about the hospitalization of Nikita Mikhalkov at 17:25, the Interfax agency – later half an hour.
According to Baza, at first the 77-year-old director was hospitalized in City Clinical Hospital No. 67. However, then the doctors decided to transfer Mr. Mikhalkov to another hospital with the help of an intensive care team.
Nikita Mikhalkov heads the Moscow International Film Festival. In 1995, the director received an Oscar for the film Burnt by the Sun, the film Urga – the Territory of Love brought him another Oscar nomination, as well as the film 12.
