Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, expects that the digital ruble can be used in international payments by 2025. He stated this during a meeting of the expert media club AiF.Media. TASS.
Bank of Russia announcedthat the first test operations with the digital ruble will begin on August 15. 13 banks took part in testing, including VTB.
The law on the digital ruble was submitted to the State Duma at the end of last year. In the first reading, it was adopted in mid-March, and by the second it had undergone major changes. President Vladimir Putin signed the final version of the law on July 24.
The Bank of Russia has been appointed the operator of the digital ruble. Operations can be carried out using a special information system. For citizens, transactions with the digital ruble will be free, for businesses – 0.3% of the payment amount.
