Soviet and Ukrainian actor Yuri Potapenko has died at the age of 58. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv National Academic “Young Theatre”, where the artist has worked since 1991.
“Two weeks ago, in a conversation, Yuri complained of a pain in his heart, and today he is gone. It’s hard to believe, hard to accept. Yuri Potapenko dedicated 32 years of his life to Molodoy,” the theater said in a Facebook post (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
Yuri Potapenko was born on August 1, 1965. In 1990 he graduated from the acting department of the Kyiv State Theater Institute named after Karpenko-Kary. In 1991 he joined the troupe of the Young Theatre. The filmography of Mr. Potapenko includes about 60 Soviet, Ukrainian and Russian films and series. Among the most famous film projects are “Return of Mukhtar”, “Cliffs. A song of a lifetime”, “Opera on call” and “Major”.
