The management of the German state railway operator Deutsche Bahn (DB) will not receive bonuses for 2023. About it stated Deputy Head of the Supervisory Board of DB Martin Burkert. According to him, there will be no bonuses not only for members of the board of the parent company, but also for members of the boards of subsidiaries such as DB Regio, DB Fernverkehr and DB Cargo.
The decision comes as the company received more than €50 million from federal authorities last year by capping electricity prices. In addition, as German media write, one of the reasons could be criticism of DB management due to high bonuses for 2022.
As Mr. Burkert noted, in the future, bonuses for DB management will most likely be lower, as the procedure for calculating them will change. Only 20% of the bonus amount will be assigned for achieving short-term goals, and 80% for long-term goals, and this part of the remuneration will be paid every four years. Long-term goals include train accuracy, quality of service, etc.
