Businessman Oleg Deripaska is sure that sooner or later the capital of Russia will need to be transferred to Siberia, since this region is located in the center of the country, and the main flow of goods, investments and settlements under sanctions will be from Asia.
“I’m not saying that the capital should be moved to Siberia tomorrow, but nevertheless, sooner or later it will have to be done,” Mr. Deripaska said in an interview with the TV channel “Russia 24” at the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum. “It turns out that the capital will be in Siberia?” — clarified the businessman. “Yes, the capital will be here,” he replied.
Oleg Deripaska noted that Siberia is geographically located in the center of Russia, and the main flow of investments in Russia in the future will come from Asia. In his opinion, many issues related to the development of business with Asia can be resolved “on the spot” in the Siberian region.
Exactly one year ago, on March 3, 2022, Mr. Deripaska, also speaking at the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum, expressed the same thesis about moving the capital to Siberia. “I always say: it seems like a utopia, but why do we need a capital in Moscow, if we have all our interests in Asia?
