The head of the State Duma Committee on Culture, Elena Yampolskaya, believes that the excessive capacity of concert halls has a negative impact on ensuring the safety of spectators. Not long ago, the deputy courageously opened up the possibility of commenting on her Telegram page (a MK correspondent in this regard prophesied “hell in the comments” to Elena Alexandrovna). But the experience of directly listening to the people’s opinion turned out to be productive, among other things.

“I believe that there is no need to build halls for such a number of people,” wrote one of Yampolskaya’s subscribers.

“I totally agree. Everything that is created must, first of all, be controlled. That is, it is completely accessible to control and fully covered by the relevant systems. Within the limits you are able to ensure safety and predictability, you act within those limits,” Yampolskaya wrote.

In her opinion, “gigantomania, the pursuit of numbers is the path to chaos and disaster.”

We can only hope that Yampolskaya will redirect it to her colleagues from the Committee on Construction and Housing and Public Utilities or voice from the rostrum of parliament a proposal to tighten the requirements for newly created (or better yet, existing) concert institutions in terms of capacity limits. Unfortunately, only the Law can stand in the way of human greed (the more seats in the hall, the greater the profit for the concert organizers).
