The head of the State Duma Committee on Family Affairs, Nina Ostanina, asked the head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, to introduce psychological testing when applying for loans. Such an innovation, she said, will make it possible to fight fraudsters.

“Protection for the population of our country could be mandatory or voluntary psychological testing when applying for a bank loan. And in case of unsatisfactory results of such testing, contact a psychologist authorized by the bank for advice,” says Ms. Ostanina’s appeal (quoted from “RIA News”).

The deputy added that the most common type of telephone fraud involves transfers or contributions to “safe accounts.” Some victims, she said, are led to believe that they need to take out a loan.

In June, deputies Nina Ostanina and Yana Lantratova asked change the amount of bank deposits that allow needy families to receive benefits. The limit on income from deposits, they say, “practically denies” the family the opportunity to save money for a major purchase and forces them to save “under the pillow.”
