The retired head of the Russian Post, Maxim Akimov, is in Moscow, Alexander Khinshtein, head of the State Duma committee on information policy, said after a conversation with Mr. Akimov himself. “I just got in touch with the now former director of the Russian Post, Maxim Akimov. He is in Moscow. <...> All reports about his emigration are fake,” wrote Mr. Khinshtein in Telegram. According to him, the day before, on January 10, Mr. Akimov handed over the business to his successor, Mikhail Volkov. The deputy reacted in such a way to messages from Telegram channels that Maxim Akimov received an Israeli passport and left the country.
Mr. Akimov himself told RBC that he was “taking a break from work.” “I have suggestions, but I won’t disclose them yet, I’m thinking about them. Of course, I stay in Russia,” said the former head of the Russian Post.
Today, January 11, for the post of General Director of Russian Post was appointed head of the National Lottery Mikhail Volkov. Mr. Akimov has headed the company since 2020. Kommersant’s sources previously reported that a possible reason for discussing the change of the head of the Russian Post was, among other things, the company’s poor financial performance.
