Deputy Gorelkin denies the Ministry of Digital Development of legislation on the regulation of bloggers

Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Anton Gorelkin (United Russia) in his Telegram channel stated that the Ministry of Digital Development does not propose or develop any legislative regulation for bloggers, this issue is also not discussed in the State Duma. So he commented on the publication of RBC, which reported on the readiness of the Ministry of Digital Development to work out the issue of regulating the work of bloggers.
In the material released on May 4 RBC It was reported that the Ministry of Digital Development proposes to develop norms for regulating the work of bloggers. With reference to the press service of the department, it was noted that “for regulatory purposes, it is necessary to establish what is meant by the term “blogger” and what their activities include, in addition, an authorized body exercising control must be determined.”
According to Mr. Gorelkin, the publication incorrectly interprets the official response of the department, in fact the ministry is not doing any work to legislatively regulate the activities of bloggers.
The parliamentarian doubted the necessity of adopting such laws. In his opinion, influencers who came under investigation due to non-payment of taxes (we are talking about bloggers Valeria Chekalina, Alexander Mitroshina and Elena Blinovskaya) “are not judged as bloggers, but as entrepreneurs.”
According to Anton Gorelkin, attempts to legally regulate the work of bloggers in Russia have “already passed”, but this did not end in anything good. The deputy believes that proposals to register bloggers as mass media or introduce a separate code for them in OKVED will not have any positive effect and “simply will not work.”
