According to Rosstat, Moscow and St. Petersburg are the regions of Russia with the most expensive housing. In the third quarter of 2023, a square meter in new buildings in the two capitals cost 342.9 thousand and 213.4 thousand rubles. respectively. In the Krasnodar Territory, a “square” also costs more than in most regions – 131.2 thousand rubles. This is largely determined by the cost of apartments in Sochi – about 446.9 thousand rubles. per sq. m.
In December 2023, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin declared, that preferential mortgages in Russia can only be extended “in certain regions where demand is weak.” According to him, there will definitely not be a mass extension of preferential mortgages, since the state program “has fulfilled its function.” He clarified that some approaches to preferential mortgage programs will be revised from July 1, 2024, when their validity period ends.
