The Danish brewing company Carlsberg Group has signed an agreement to sell its Russian business. About it reported in company.
The completion date for the deal “remains uncertain,” Carlsberg added, as it is subject to approval by Russian government and regulatory authorities in a number of jurisdictions.
From providing more detailed information about the transaction, including who acts as a buyer, the company decided to refrain, explaining that this is necessary for a more “smooth flow of processes.” Carlsberg noted that the separation of the Russian business from the rest of the group was very difficult.
In Russia, the Carlsberg Group owns the Baltika Brewing Company with eight plants in St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Tula, Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Khabarovsk and Novosibirsk. The group’s breweries produce 55 beer brands, including Baltika, Zatecky Gus, Carlsberg and Zhigulevskoye.
In March 2022, the Carlsberg Group announced the suspension of sales of Carlsberg beer in Russia, as well as the termination of investments, exports and advertising in the country’s market. On March 28, the brewing company announced its withdrawal from the Russian market. In March the company reportedthat it intends to sell Russian assets before the end of spring. The media wrote that the Carlsberg Group is negotiating the sale of business with the Chernogolovka group of companies, the Israeli CBC group, AB Inbev Efes, controlled by the Turkish company Anadolu Efes.
