Czech Republic will not support a ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products – Kommersant

Czech Minister of Agriculture Zdeněk Nekula said that Prague has no reason to impose a ban on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine. Earlier, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland resorted to such measures due to problems with local producers.
“Last year, the Czech Republic imported 4,000 tons of Ukrainian grain. We produce approximately 5 million tons. Import from Ukraine is less than a tenth of a percent compared to our production,” said Mr. Nekula (quote – TV Nova).
In the Czech Republic, intensive quality checks of products imported from Ukraine continue. According to the head of the Czech Ministry of Agriculture, there were no cases of non-compliance with sanitary standards.
“If this happened, the entire cargo would be disposed of … Unilateral bans are not a solution. We did not join them because there is no reason for this,” the Czech minister concluded.
Mr. Nekula called the initiatives to restrict the import of Ukrainian grain populist.
