CPC Suspended Acceptance of Kazakh Oil Due to Overstocking

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium stopped receiving oil from the Tengiz field in the Atyrau region of Kazakhstan due to overstocking. This was reported in the press service of the CPC, writes TASS.
“As of February 22, 2023, due to overstocking, the intake of oil into the CPC system from the Tengiz field at the Tengiz PS (Republic of Kazakhstan) was stopped,” the statement said.
The company also announced the stoppage of oil pumping to the tank farm of the CPC marine terminal near Novorossiysk. At the same time, Atyrau and Komsomolskaya oil pumping stations (PS) receive oil at a reduced rate.
The day before, February 21, CPC informedthat on February 19, the company stopped the shipment of oil at the terminal in Novorossiysk due to a storm, and admitted that the transportation of oil could be stopped. The company noted that the tanks of the marine terminal were almost full.
The CPC pipeline system connects fields in western Kazakhstan with a terminal near Novorossiysk. The consortium operates the 1,511 km Tengiz-Novorossiysk oil pipeline, the main export route for Kazakh oil (about 80% of oil exports from Kazakhstan).
