At the sea terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), work has been completed to replace the buoyancy tank on the first remote mooring facility (TLU-1). CPC starts repairing the second TLU. This was announced by CPC General Director Nikolay Gorban.
“Today, work has been completed in full to replace the buoyancy tank with VPU-1 at the sea terminal of our company. The full scope of work has been completed, the TLU has been put into operation. And at the moment, the loading of the first tanker is already underway, ”Nikolai Gorban told reporters (quoted from TASS).
Mr. Gorban added that preparatory work has begun on the repair of VPU-2. He refused to predict the timing of repairs due to the possible influence of weather conditions. According to him, work at VPU-1 was delayed due to the arrival of winter.
The CPC system is the main export route for Kazakh oil. According to the plan, in 2022 the pumping volume should be 67 million tons. August 22 CPC stopped the operation of two out of three remote mooring units due to damage discovered during the inspection, oil loading was carried out in a reduced volume.
“b” informedthat the repair of remote devices may be delayed until spring. In this case, oil supplies from Kazakhstan to the world market through the CPC could be reduced by 15 million tons. In November, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed increase the volume of oil transportation through the ports on the Caspian Sea Aktau and Kuryk, bypassing Russia.
