CPC announces terms for repair of decommissioned remote mooring facilities

The repair of each of the two remote mooring units (TLU) decommissioned due to damage at the marine terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) will take a month from the date of the conclusion of the contract, the company’s press service reported. transmits TASS.
“With an already concluded contract with the contractor, the mobilization of forces and means, their delivery and arrival at the place of work, appropriate weather conditions, the performance of the work itself and subsequent inspections – one month for one TLU,” the report says.
The CPC noted that the timing may be adjusted depending on the circumstances. The remaining TLU-3 can handle up to 3.5 million tons of oil per month, the company added.
CPC temporarily brought out out of service two of its three TLUs at the marine terminal the day before. The company said that this month, during scheduled maintenance work on the equipment complex of VLU-1 and VPU-2, cracks were discovered by diving teams. The consortium approached the manufacturer of the TLU (Imodco) and the classification society supervising the safe operation of the devices, ABS, which “strongly recommended that the operation of the TLU be suspended until the replacement of the buoyancy tanks.”
CPC is one of the largest investment projects in the energy sector with the participation of foreign partners in the CIS. The 1,511 km long CPC Tengiz-Novorossiysk oil pipeline transports more than two thirds of all Kazakh oil exports, as well as raw materials from Russian fields, including those in the Caspian Sea.
The main shareholders of CPC are: the state company “Transneft” (manages 24% of the shares, KTK Company – 7%), Kazakhstan (Kazmunaigas with a share of 19% and Kazakhstan Pipeline Ventures – 1.75%); the American Chevron (through the Chevron Caspian Pipeline Consortium) owns 15%, the Lukoil structure Lukarco BV – 12.5%.
