Containers with steel from an Indian company for the Russian Federation got stuck in the port of Antwerp for a year

Since February 2022, the Indian company Jindal Stainless has been unable to bring five containers of steel to Russia from Antwerp, Belgium. The cargo was blocked against the background of the adoption of sanctions against the Russian Federation due to the introduction of troops into Ukraine, reports Reuters.
The containers contain about 100 metric tons of stainless steel. Sanctions have not been imposed on such products, so Jindal Stainless insists on unlocking the supply. The port of Antwerp forwarded the question on this topic to the Belgian customs.
At the port of Kotka in Finland in early March was detained ship Smew with Russian fertilizers. The EU did not sanction fertilizers, but the shipment was said to be linked to the sanctioned person. Helsinki made an exception for the cargo, as it was exported to a third country and was needed to “ensure global food security.”
