Cognac sales in Russia increased by 10.7%

Alcohol sales in Russia from January to August 2023 increased by 4.3% (to 146 million decaliters) compared to the same period in 2022. In particular, sales of cognac increased by 10.7%, and sparkling wines by 9. 2%, reports TASS with reference to data from Rosalkogoltabakkontrol.

The number of sold alcoholic beverages with a strength of more than 9% increased by 3.1%, to 74.6 million decaliters. At the same time, sales of vodka decreased by 0.1% to 49.4 million decaliters.

In the eight months of 2023, grape wine was sold 5.5% more (37.3 million decaliters) than a year earlier. Sales of liqueur wines increased by 84.5% (to 784,900 decaliters), and liquor and vodka products with alcohol content over 25% – by 26.6% (to 8.8 million decaliters). Sales of low-alcohol products increased by 17.1%, to 11.4 million decaliters.

At the same time, liquor and vodka products with an alcohol content of up to 25% became less popular – their sales decreased by 88.5% (to 164,800 decaliters).

Sales of cognac and brandy decreased by 19% at Stellar Group (Old Barrel, Mancatcher, Veda) and by 33% at Alvisa (Elder, Kinovsky).
