Coal production in Russia began to grow

Coal production in Russia in January–August 2023 increased by 1.2% year-on-year to 280 million tons, according to Rosstat data. In August, production for the first time since March showed positive dynamics compared to the previous month and reached 34 million tons.
Prior to this, coal production in the Russian Federation had been declining for several months: in March it amounted to 38.6 million tons, in April and May – 36 million tons each, in June – 34 million tons, in July – 33 million tons. In August, the country produced 1.3% less coal than in the same month of 2022, Rosstat reports. Although in April – July there was an increase in coal production year on year.
